s14 staging at apple valley speedway

I’m sure some of you are aware of Grange’s.. err.. I mean “Apple Valley Speedway’s” new membership deal. Basically, it’s something like $300 for a year’s worth of open practice days or 200 visits, whichever comes first. So, the plan is to practice once a month, which makes the math go something like this: (each visit = $25).… Read the rest of this now >>

Jex's miata

A lot of fun stuff… and not so fun stuff… happened today. It was a good chance for me to capture some more cool in-car footage from my GoPro, and also I finally tested the new engine build on the S14 at the track. With the previous stock build, I was able to get a 1:30 on 595 RSR tires.… Read the rest of this now >>

Technically, I should have been driving a Miata on this day. But unfortunately, it wasn’t ready for tracking. So, I ended up taking my S14 instead, which also was not prepared for a grip event (it had drift tires on it) but was at least mechanically okay. Here are 4 video, I hope you enjoy them.… Read the rest of this now >>

The thing with going to the Balcony… is that it’s just the Balcony. You get a handful of turns to practice car control, and when you have it all figured out, you’re mentally done for the day. And this can happen as soon as… Ohh… lunch time, if you’re good enough.… Read the rest of this now >>

Finally got a chance to use my new GoPro camera for some in-car footage at Grange. One of the most common mistakes that novice drifters make is not counter-steering fast enough. Every car is different, but here’s what works for me.… Read the rest of this now >>

Luckily, we were able to get access to some pics that our guests took. A few of the guys from Superwow Factory made it out to snap some sweet photos, and these are just a few.… Read the rest of this now >>

New E-Brake Hardware for Z32 Rear Brake S14

I’d like to introduce you to my freshly-updated e-brake hardware. (Z32 300ZX e-brake mechanism on S14 240SX rear)

The thing with installing new e-brake shoes is that it’s not really an upgrade, and it’s not exactly regular maintenance either. I mean, how often do you hear anyone brag about this? Most likely never (or rarely).… Read the rest of this now >>

Draining the Fluid from Sharif's 350Z TransmissionUltra JDM Baller Guy Chin-Chin decided he wanted to pair a Nissan 350Z transmission with his SR20DET in his boro boro S13 build. What a cocky guy. Until this day, I had never seen a brand new transmission before. The first step of the process is to remove the bellhousing so it can be machined and reattached.… Read the rest of this now >>

One Expensive Box. V3 = No Tophats :(
By far the most expensive box I’ve opened in quite some time… Raj bought the KW V3 Coilovers, which have adjustable bump and separately adjustable rebound, making them a big notch above most of your bargain barrel made-in-taiwan suspensions. I just wish they came with their own tophats, but it looks like you need to buy the Club Sport model for that.… Read the rest of this now >>
