I’m sure some of you are aware of Grange’s.. err.. I mean “Apple Valley Speedway’s” new membership deal. Basically, it’s something like $300 for a year’s worth of open practice days or 200 visits, whichever comes first. So, the plan is to practice once a month, which makes the math go something like this: (each visit = $25).… Read the rest of this now >>
A lot of fun stuff… and not so fun stuff… happened today. It was a good chance for me to capture some more cool in-car footage from my GoPro, and also I finally tested the new engine build on the S14 at the track. With the previous stock build, I was able to get a 1:30 on 595 RSR tires.… Read the rest of this now >>
Technically, I should have been driving a Miata on this day. But unfortunately, it wasn’t ready for tracking. So, I ended up taking my S14 instead, which also was not prepared for a grip event (it had drift tires on it) but was at least mechanically okay. Here are 4 video, I hope you enjoy them.… Read the rest of this now >>
The thing with going to the Balcony… is that it’s just the Balcony. You get a handful of turns to practice car control, and when you have it all figured out, you’re mentally done for the day. And this can happen as soon as… Ohh… lunch time, if you’re good enough.… Read the rest of this now >>
What we all thought would be a blazing hot summer day suddenly turned into a rain event. For someone who enjoys “accidentally” drifting at grip events, I instantly regretted not signing up for this track day with Extreme Speed.
Although, delay after delay of having to pull trapped cars out of the muddy course eventually started to get old.… Read the rest of this now >>
Finally got a chance to use my new GoPro camera for some in-car footage at Grange. One of the most common mistakes that novice drifters make is not counter-steering fast enough. Every car is different, but here’s what works for me.… Read the rest of this now >>
Sooooo… here’s why you should make sure your sunroof, windshield, side-window are super clean before you stick a suction-cupped GoPro camera to it. Apparently, even if the suction cup is clean, the mount won’t stick to the car if the target surface isn’t also clean.
Hmm, go figure…
(Testing was done at Grange Motor Circuit in Apple Valley, CA.)… Read the rest of this now >>
Last Saturday was hands-down our best event yet, filled with excellent cars, lots of driving, perfect weather, and good vibes all around. Luckily, we were able to get access to some pics that our guests took. A few of the guys from Superwow Factory made it out to snap some sweet photos, and these are just a few.… Read the rest of this now >>
Just a month after Drift & Grip I, we were already back at Grange Motor Circuit in Apple Valley, CA. This time, we had a bit less people, which opened up opportunities for more track time and more driving instruction and advice-giving. I think almost everyone left the event with something of value.… Read the rest of this now >>
There’s something about racing with friends that’s leaps and bounds more fun than racing with strangers. I mean, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but when you race with your buddies, you know it’s just going to be a fun, laughable, good time. At “Drift & Grip I” over at Grange Motor Circuit, we decided to have a little Staff Battle between ourselves.… Read the rest of this now >>
